Our goal is to promote and increase membership into the dance troupe. It is not necessary to be a member of the troupe to join us for FREE lessons.
You may be wondering just what is Scottish Country Dance. Scottish county dancing is a lot like American square dancing. It usually involves groups of 4 to 8 people forming sets or lines.
You are not required to have partner with you when going to a class or event. This is a very social form of dance and often of mixed sex, meaning that it is perfectly acceptable for the women to dance on the men's side of the line, since there are usually more women then men at a function.
The music is usually upbeat and played on various instruments. Such as fiddles, accordions, flutes, pianos, and drums and on rare occasion yes even the Noble instrument itself the bagpipes.

Directions to Montauk State Park
Click on the directions above.
P.S. the shortcut through Fort Leonard Wood will be closed until 19 July.
Montauk State park is located 22 miles south of Salem on Highway 119, or 13 miles east of Licking just off of State Route VV. From all points south of Montauk State Park, travel north on Highway 63 from Houston, Mo., turn east on Highway P, travel one mile, turn north on Highway 137 and drive one mile, then turn east or right onto Highway VV and travel 10 miles to the park.
The first major site will be the old grist mill on the right. Parking is in this area and the performance and exhibition area will be across the road, you should see the craft tents nestled in that area. Parking is free and you can park in any designated parking area. The dance performance area will be North of the craft tent area, and we will have the Flower O' Scotland canopy tent set up in that area, so look for it. The dance floor will be on the ground in front of the stage. Should be easy to locate.
Ample parking will be available in the large parking lot adjacent to the Montauk Mill and in a nearby open field. Food and refreshments, provided by the park's Dorman L. Steelman Lodge, will be sold from the open picnic shelter house.
Craig, from the Highland Mist, will be joining us. If you have collapsible chairs, you may want to bring them along on Sunday. According to the Licking News, (internationally famous newspaper) 1,000 or more people are expected to come to the park, so we should have a reasonable audience.
Hope to see you there!
